STANDARD

OPTIONS

Below are our standard framing options. These are the options most commonly requested and are kept in stock for a faster turnaround. If you are looking for something more bespoke, we are more than happy to work with you to create something unique.

When choosing a frame, there are a few things to consider:

  • Frame Style: The type of moulding used for the frame.

  • Moulding Material: The type of material used for the frame, and the colour or finish applied.

  • Moulding Thickness: The width and depth of the frame moulding.

  • Artwork Mounting: The method of securing and presenting the artwork within the frame.

  • Glass or Acrylic: The type of glazing used to protect the artwork, with options for clear, non-reflective, or UV-protective glass or acrylic.

  • Hanging Method: How the frame will be mounted or displayed.

  • Framing Standard: The grade of materials used, such as acid free adhesives and UV protective glass.

Our framing team is here to discuss all the different options to ensure you get the best frame to complement and enhance your work. If you have any questions don't hesitate to get in touch.

Frame Style

The two main frame styles we offer as standard are deep rebate frames and tray frames.

STANDARD (DEEP REBATE) FRAME: Ideal for modern framing, these frames provide several options for mounting your artwork and include glass or acrylic glazing to protect the piece.

TRAY FRAME: Often used for canvases and mounted pieces, tray frames feature a gap between the frame and artwork, acting as a border. These frames do not include glazing, allowing viewers to fully appreciate the texture and colour of the artwork without any barrier.

TRAY FRAME

Open Grain Black

A subtle grain pattern adds a softness to the paint finish, contrasting with closed grain styles. Additionally, this finish is more durable than a matt finish and easier to repair.

Finish: Open grain spray

Timber: Ayous

Matt Black

Trafila achieves a smooth finish on wood grain by applying multiple thin layers of polyurethane lacquer. Unlike thicker layers of compo or gesso, these fine layers are resistant to chipping.

Finish: Paint on a smooth trafila base

Timber: Ayous

PROTECTIVE GLAZING

We offer a range of glass and acrylic options to protect your framed artwork. For spaces where reflections are a concern, our non-reflective glass options reduce glare and ensures optimal visibility. Similarly, our acrylic options offer lightweight durability with choices between standard clarity or non-reflective surfaces. Whether you prioritise clarity, protection, or minimising reflections, our framing team can help you choose the perfect option to complement your artwork and environment.

BACK OF THE FRAME

At Harwood King, we pay attention to every detail, even on the back of your frames. As standard, we use-low stretch hanging cord for smaller frames and sturdy strap hooks for larger, heavier pieces, ensuring secure and balanced hanging. Additionally, cork spacers are affixed to the bottom corners of the frame to ensure a snug fit against the wall. This design not only enhances the frame's stability but also creates a small gap between the artwork and the wall, allowing for airflow that prevents moisture buildup to best preserve your artwork.

Mounting Options

We offer multiple mounting options as standard, allowing you to customise your framing to perfectly suit your artwork's style and presentation needs.

WINDOW MOUNT: Designed to keep your artwork away from the glass, providing a border that enhances your image. Choose from various colours and widths to complement your artwork.

FLOAT MOUNT: Your artwork is mounted against a backing board that complements its colours. A popular choice is to create a floating effect by raising it slightly away from the backing. This style can also be combined with a window mount for added effect.

NO MOUNT: Your artwork is bordered directly by the frame, ensuring a seamless presentation. A small spacer inside the frame's rebate prevents the artwork from touching the protective glazing, preserving its integrity.
